Giving at EB

EB was founded by a small group of dedicated parents, who realized from the beginning that giving back was the best way to ensure their children got the most out of an EB education. This tradition has continued to grow as the school has grown, and parents are a vital link in that chain.

Community Spirit of Generosity

A spirit of generosity is a cornerstone of our school culture. When parents give, they create a culture of impact and contribute to what sets EB apart. Families help make EB the best that it can be for every child. Each year, you will be asked to participate in three fundraising activities: give to the Annual Fund, attend the Annual Gala & Auction and support the Move-a-Thon (formerly Run-a-Thon).

In addition, we ask all families to make a gift to the Endowment Fund at least once during their tenure at EB. EB’s Endowment Fund was established in 2003 and serves to provide a long term source of financial stability for the school.  In addition, every seven to ten years, EB will launch a capital campaign to raise funds for a specific major project, to provide a transformational impact for our students. We will ask all stakeholders to participate in a capital campaign. The Annual Fund allows us to sustain our wonderful program, while capital campaigns give us the means to grow.

The Annual Fund

Giving supports our community: students, teachers, and families. The generosity from parents, faculty, alumni, grandparents and friends in the most important fundraiser of the year continues to sustain and elevate our mission, supplying crucial funds not provided by tuition. We strive for 100% participation from our families, faculty and staff every year.

We invite you to learn more by following the link below and to hear from our EB alumni how an EB education impacted their lives.

Gala et vente aux enchères

In the spring, parents, faculty, and alumni parents come together for an evening for celebration and fundraising. We will ask you to join us in supporting this event — either by sponsoring as an individual or through your company, volunteering, donating an auction item, purchasing a faculty ticket, or by attending as a guest. In an effort to further our goal of belonging, all proceeds from the Auction will now support tuition assistance.

Please email the Development Team at developmentteam@eb.org to become a sponsor or to donate an auction item.

Move-a-thon

This student-led fundraiser (formerly the Run-a-thon) involves every classroom at each grade level, while promoting a healthy lifestyle for students and families. This event includes all students and all abilities, and kids can move in any way they want! Each child creates their own fundraising page, and we ask you to support them by sharing their campaign with your community network to help them reach their goal.

Capital Campaigns & Endowment

EB was founded in 1977 and is the oldest and largest bilingual school in the East Bay. In addition to annual giving through the Annual Fund and events, we depend on our community's long-term investment to ensure that our school remains a fixture in the international school community for years to come. We ask that each family contributes towards the Endowment at least once during their tenure and participates in any school major capital campaigns.

We invite you to learn more by following the link below. If you are interested in getting involved with the Endowment or a future capital campaign, please contact the Director of Development, Mei-Lin Ha Byers at mha@eb.org.

Pourquoi le don est important à EB

EB offers many opportunities to help the school in significant ways, including donating funds, organizing an event, joining a committee, volunteering in the classroom, sharing of talents, and otherwise giving one’s time.  When parents donate funds to EB, they are helping to:

  • Équiper les salles de classe
  • Assurer le développement professionnel des enseignants et du personnel
  • Offrir des expériences passionnantes en dehors de la salle de classe
  • Fournir une aide à la scolarité aux familles qui ne pourraient pas autrement rejoindre la communauté diversifiée d'EB.
  • Veiller à ce que l'EB continue de prospérer pour les générations futures
Everyone is encouraged to give in whatever way they can. Whether it’s sponsoring a child in the Move-a-Thon, attending the World Celebrations picnic, cheering on the Jaguars at a flag football game, or opening doors for carpool, parents’ participation in the school creates a special environment for students and families alike.

Lorsque les parents donnent, que ce soit en temps, en talents ou en argent, ils contribuent à ce qui distingue EB. En bref, ils aident à faire d'EB la meilleure école possible pour les futures générations d'enfants.

Hannah Stott-Bumsted, Alumni Parent

"Je suis incroyablement reconnaissant à l'école pour la façon dont elle s'est réorientée si rapidement ce printemps vers un programme d'enseignement à distance très efficace. Je suis également très fière des efforts qu'elle déploie pour naviguer dans cet environnement très fluide et donner à nos enfants la meilleure éducation possible tout en assurant la sécurité de tous. J'encourage tous les parents à nous soutenir à quelque niveau que ce soit - notre objectif premier est une participation à 100% et chaque don compte !"
