  • Défi Maths / Math Challenge 2024: G3 & G4 Use Teamwork to Go for the Gold

    In January, third and fourth graders collaborated in teams to tackle a series of mathematical and logic puzzles inspired by the theme of the Olympics, in celebration of the upcoming games in Paris this summer. This yearly event is known as Défi Maths, or Math Challenge. EB was one of many schools that participated. Our students joined numerous bilingual schools within our AEFE network in this activity. All schools participating worked on the same set of problems in French, with the common goal of collaborating to find solutions within one hour.

  • International Women's Day is March 8

    Recognizing The Achievements of Women, Near & Far

    March is Women's History Month and March 8 is International Women's Day! Today, these commemorations are part of the larger movement advocating for gender equality. It serves as a reminder of the progress that has been made, the challenges that still exist, and the work that remains to be done to break down stereotypes and challenge gender biases.

  • EB Students Envision Possibility: TEDxYouth@EB 2024

    Louisiana is a unique and culturally rich state located in the southern United States. Louisiana has a strong historical connection with France, dating back to the colonial era. Still today, Louisiana has a strong French cultural influence, particularly in New Orleans.

  • Black History Month At EB

    February is Black History Month in the United States, Canada and in the United Kingdom. It's a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and history of Black individuals and communities. During this month at EB, students will benefit from different activities, discussions, and visitors to provide meaningful and engaging experiences related to Black and Brown history, culture, and impact. Find resources we’ll be using, and you can too, throughout Black History Month in February, and beyond!

  • The Many Faces Of Lunar New Year

    Lunar New Year is a traditional festival celebrated in many East Asian countries and communities. The date of the Lunar New Year is determined by the lunar calendar, and it usually falls between January 21 and February 20. This year Lunar New Year falls on February 10th (a Saturday), so EB students will celebrate on Friday with activities like receiving red envelopes, storytime, arts and crafts and tasting yummy treats. After-school, EB Parent's Association and the Families of Color Affinity Group will be hosting a very special Lunar New Year Celebration!

    Bonne Année ! Welcome back to our Francophone Spotlight segment. We took a short break, but now we’re back to travel together around the world as we learn more about the immensely diverse Francophone diaspora. To kick-off this year’s series, we’re heading to France! From the snowy Alps mountains to the glistening blue Mediterranean Sea in the Côte d'Azur;  from the breathtaking lavender fields of Provence to the endlessly vibrant capital city of Paris, France has it all. This commemorative month serves as an opportunity for education, reflection, and raising awareness about the significant role Indigenous communities have played and continue to play in American society.     "Día de los Muertos," also known as the "Day of the Dead," is a Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd each year. It is a vibrant and colorful celebration that honors deceased loved ones and is a fusion of indigenous Aztec beliefs and Catholicism. The holiday is most closely associated with Mexico but is also observed in other Latin American countries and by Mexican communities around the world.

  • French Physicists: A Tradition of Innovation

    From the contributions of innovators like Marie Curie to the cutting-edge discoveries of contemporary scientists like Anne L’Huillier and Pierre Agostini who just won the Nobel Prize for their work with short pulses of light called “attoseconds”,  France's impact on the realm of modern physics is significant.     Today, we celebrate and honor the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, histories, contributions, and resilience of Indigenous peoples in North America and around the world. It is a day of recognition and understanding of the challenges they have faced and continue to face, as well as a time to reflect on the importance of acknowledging their past and present contributions to society.   • Fall Finds In The Garden

    Students made the most of their Garden time during September, even as bouts of bad weather and air quality kept them inside. Indoors, the children were introduced to the fascinating science of seeds and what incredible diversity exists among them. Later, when fresh air and sun returned, the kids were back outside, treated to a first pick of their very own school-grown tomatoes, served up as a delicious treat with basil, honey and olive oil.
